CARTA connects the Charleston region’s residents and visitors to work, school, healthcare, and a celebrated tourism destination. In partnership with Flock & Rally, Stell developed a website that brings trip planning, route information, and service updates into a practical experience for people on the move.

THE WORK BEHIND THE SCREEN
Made to look good. Built to be useful.
Public transit information has to work in the moment. A visitor may be planning a first trip; a regular rider may need to understand a disruption before leaving home. The website’s job is to make the next useful action easy to find, with particular attention to the phone in a rider’s hand.

Transit integrations
One place for changing service information.
The notification system combines administrator-published notices with third-party transit alerts. A server-side integration reads the Swiftly GTFS-Realtime feed and brings active information into the site’s notification experience. GTFS-Realtime is a standard for sharing transit updates; here, it helps connect changing service conditions with the information riders see.
↳ Riders can find service changes in the same place as their route information.
02 / A CLOSER LOOKClear service alerts help riders see what’s changed before they travel.
THE SAME CARE. A SMALLER SCREEN.
02
Trip planning
From a starting point to a useful route.
A custom homepage widget brings together CARTA’s routing tools and Google Maps. The experience gives riders a convenient place to begin planning, connecting the site’s information with familiar mapping tools. Instead of leaving people to work out where to start, the interface provides a direct path toward a journey.
↳ Less searching for the right planning tool.
03
Mobile experience
Designed for the moment of travel.
Stell translated the information-rich experience into responsive layouts that keep navigation, routes, and essential service information usable on smaller screens. Clear entry points help both everyday riders and people unfamiliar with the area. The technical work supports a public-service website that people can consult while already on their way.
↳ Essential rider information stays within reach.
